1850 Mortiser

We have an FM employee in Nauvoo who runs our woodshop.  He's really into old tools and demonstrations of old woodworking methods. He found this foot powered mortiser at an estate sale in Nauvoo. The ladies selling their great-grandfather's stuff had no idea what they had.  After an enthusiastic explanation they gave it to him!  He's really happy and plans to use it making replacement windows for the historical sites. He says it will work better than the modern tools he has.
He will also show it in demonstrations in the area and pay homage to the original owner. Pretty sweet.
Please note that the original chisel bits are still with the tool.
