Martyrdom Commemoration

On June 27, 1844 the Prophet Joseph and his brother, Hyrum were killed by a mob in Carthage, Illinois.  That event is commemorated in Nauvoo and Carthage.  I have a couple of pictures of the event which don't really do it justice. In the morning we met at the gravesite of Hyrum and Joseph and Emma on Community of Christ property here in Nauvoo. They had a lovely commemoration event with speakers outlining the history of Joseph.  Later that day we attended another event at Cathage Jail, the site of the martyrdom in Carthage.  That was hosted by the Nauvoo Mission and featured our Young Performing Missionaries, our Young Sister Missionaries, as well as speakers.  Another wonderful event.
